Sustainability Through Energy Efficiency

Our team at 201 Portage have taken significant steps this year to advance our commitment toward sustainability. By implementing various initiatives, we have gathered crucial data, reduced energy consumption, and minimized environmental impact.

One of these initiatives includes partnering with Greenwave Innovations to install monitoring devices in our electrical system. This will enable us to monitor power usage in real time, helping our maintenance team proactively identify power surges and prioritize areas of improvement. Additionally, this will help us reduce energy consumption in our building by focusing on areas that require improvement.

In addition, we have also started retrofitting our current fluorescent light fixtures with LED fixtures equipped with occupancy sensors and light harvesting technology. We aim to further reduce energy consumption in 201 Portage by installing these LED fixtures that will automatically adjust lighting levels based on occupancy and natural light availability.

Along with the LED light fixtures, Harvard is replacing the old Venetian blinds with modern roller shades. These new shades can reduce solar transmission by 93% and visible light transmission by 95%. Installing these shades will not only help control the amount of solar gain but also give tenants more control over the light levels in their space, allowing them to adjust the light according to their preferences.

We have also been putting in a lot of effort to enhance the temperature controls and air handling units to provide a more comfortable experience to the tenants. As part of our ongoing efforts to promote sustainability, we consider any equipment nearing the end of its useful life as an opportunity to improve its performance and reduce carbon emissions wherever feasible.

At 201 Portage, we prioritize sustainability in all our projects and ideas for building development. We are constantly working to improve the spaces we offer and move towards a sustainable future.

Stay tuned for updates on more upcoming projects!
